A 96 unit, 100,000 sqft residential + community amenity building takes rise in East Harlem . . .
30+ units of affordable housing, a public community center, and numerous additional residential amenities for this new Harlem mid-rise mixed use development . . .
1975 Madison is a brand new 100,000 + square-foot apartment development project featuring 96 luxury units (32 affordable, 64 market rate), as well as a new community center for East Harlem residents. Once the former site of the Metropolitan Community United Methodist Church, an important 1870s Gothic revival building, the redevelopment began when it was determined by historic preservationists that due to years of damage and initial construction defects, the landmark would be unable to properly be restored after a roof collapse in 2019.
The replacement building's design features contemporary interpretations of the original gothic revival architecture and features large columns in earth-toned colors. The ground floor houses the new community center, maintaining neighborhood ties. Residents will enjoy over 10,000 square feet of amenities, including a lounge, gym, garden terrace, roof terrace, and a large amenity room. The building’s construction featured large-pane glazing inset deeply from the facade, which maximized FAR, and complied with the latest 2020 NYC Energy Conservation Code requirements.
The project is scheduled for 2026 completion
